Coming up in the next fortnight in the transition team

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Transition, What we're working on

Here are some of the things we’re working on in the next 2 weeks:

User needs workshops. Over the last fortnight we’ve completed 6 trial user needs workshops. We’ve used these trials to refine the format of the workshop and the data we use to write user stories. We’ve also refined our template for capturing all user needs. We’ve learned that the workshop works best when we use it as a chance to consider the top user needs for each website. We will now review these trials and start scheduling in more workshops.

Content, style and Publisher training. We’ve got some new trainers on the team, Christine Cawthorne and Brij Thakrar. Christine will be running the content and style training, and Brij Thakrar will be running the Publisher training. Publisher is the system used to publish and edit content on GOV.UK.  Once Christine and Brij have run some internal trial sessions at GDS during the next 2 weeks, we’ll start testing these with agencies.

Meeting agencies. The transition managers will be making various trips to meet colleagues at agencies and arm’s length bodies (ALBs), including a visit to Croydon, to see the Land Registry, and to a group of Bristol-based agencies and ALBs from Defra.

Reporting. We’re putting together reports which will make it easy to see how our work is progressing across the transitions of agencies and ALBs.

Manual transitions. There are a number of sites which are being moved manually to GOV.UK - generally where there is a small amount of content to transition. We’re expecting some of these to complete their transition over the next fortnight, depending on final checks.

Monthly transition meeting with department contacts. On 17th October we’ll hold the first of our new monthly transition meetings. This will focus on different elements of the transition.
